Anton Kolomeyer, MD, PhD.
Dr. Kolomeyer is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in Vitreoretinal Surgery. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania. He specializes in all aspects of medical and surgical retina, with a focus on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, retinal detachment, epiretinal membranes, and macular holes.
Dr. Kolomeyer was born in Moscow, Russia and moved to the United States at 12 years of age. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from Rutgers University while majoring in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and was accepted into a combined MD-PhD program at New Jersey Medical School where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Kolomeyer completed his Medicine Internship at Morristown Memorial Hospital where he was named the Outstanding Intern of the Year, followed by Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Afterwards, he completed a Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kolomeyer has authored >60 peer-reviewed publications and has been the recipient of numerous national prestigious awards/fellowships, including the Distinguished Service Award from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Resident Excellence Award from the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Foundation, the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship, and the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Foundation Award. He also received the Fellow Excellence in Teaching Award from the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kolomeyer is a reviewer for several high-impact ophthalmology journals such as JAMA Ophthalmology and RETINA, and is a member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retinal Specialists, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Kolomeyer is fluent in English and Russian and has knowledge of medical Spanish.
